At Everytel, we collect information about visitors to improve your user experience. The information may, for example, be used to improve the website, respond to your messages, and for marketing purposes.
In this privacy policy, you can read about which personal data we collect, how we collect the data, the lawful basis for processing it, and how we manage and protect your information.
Data controller
The party responsible for storing and managing personal data on Everytel is Comparico AB, with company registration number 556851-2312. This company operates the website and is responsible for ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations regarding personal data, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What is considered personal data?
According to GDPR, personal data is any information that can identify a person, either directly or indirectly. Examples include name, address, email address, IP address, gender or location information.
Lawful basis for processing personal data
In order for us to have the right to process your personal data, the processing must be based on what is known as a lawful basis. Below we explain which lawful bases we use.
Consent
This means you have given us your explicit, opt-in permission to process your data for a specific purpose. We use this basis for:
- Placing analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Placing marketing and affiliate tracking cookies.
- You always have the right to withdraw your consent at any time via our Cookie Policy.
Agreement (contract)
When you create an account with us to leave reviews, you enter into an agreement (our Terms of Use) with us. We process your information (name, email) in order to fulfil that agreement – that is, to be able to create and manage your account.
Legitimate interest
We may process your data when we have a “legitimate interest” to do so, and we have assessed that this interest is not overridden by your rights. We use this basis for:
- Responding to your enquiries when you use our contact form. It is in both our and your interest that we can process your email to provide a reply.
- Protecting our services from spam and abuse.
Legal obligation
In certain cases, we may be required to retain or disclose information in order to comply with applicable laws and regulations, for example if requested by an authority or for bookkeeping purposes.
What personal data do we collect?
This section explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how long we store it.
Information you provide to us yourself
In the following situations, you will need to provide your personal details yourself.
When you use our contact form
To send us a message via our contact form, you need to provide your email address and your name. We need this information in order to respond to your message. This data is processed in our email system (Google Workspace) and will be permanently deleted as soon as we have handled your case.
When you use our feedback feature
The purpose of this feature is solely to collect anonymous feedback to help us improve our website.
You are not required to provide any personal information, and we explicitly instruct users not to submit personal data in the feedback form, as clearly stated in the feature’s disclaimer.
If you choose to include personal data in your message (such as your name, email, or phone number) against our instructions, this data will be stored temporarily in our system.
Our handling of such accidentally submitted data is strictly limited:
- We will not use this personal data for any purpose.
- We will not use it to contact you.
- The data will be permanently deleted as soon as our team has reviewed and processed the general feedback provided.
When you create an account to leave reviews
If you want to leave a review about a provider, you need to create an account with us. We require this step to help ensure that all reviews are genuine and to prevent spam or inauthentic submissions.
The information we store in connection with this is first and last name, email address and password. We also save all the reviews you have written. You can view all this information in your profile when you are logged in.
Your control and storage period
- We provide you with direct control over your data. When logged in, you can access and amend your personal details at any time via your account profile. You can also use the tool in your profile settings to permanently delete your entire account.
- This information is stored for as long as you have an active account with us. To comply with data protection principles, we have a policy for inactive accounts. If an account has no login activity for 24 consecutive months, it will be flagged as inactive. We will then contact you via email, and if the account is not reactivated within 30 days, it will be permanently deleted.
Information we collect based on your consent
If you provide your consent via our cookie banner, we use cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to collect data about visitor behaviour. We do this to understand how visitors use our website and to improve our services and user experience.
This data, which is treated as personal data, can include:
- Location information: We see your approximate location (e.g., country or city) based on your IP address. (Your IP address is automatically anonymised in Google Analytics, which means your full IP address is never stored on their servers).
- User behaviour: This helps us understand how you interact with our site, such as which pages you visit and how long you stay on them.
- Technical information: This includes the type of device (mobile, computer, etc.), browser, and operating system you are using.
Storage period
The user-level data collected by Google Analytics is set to be automatically deleted from their servers after 14 months. This retention period resets on new activity. This does not affect the aggregated, anonymous statistics we use to see overall trends.
Managing your consent
We will only collect this data if you actively accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner. You can view, change, or withdraw your consent at any time via our Cookie Policy, which also provides a full list of the cookies we use.
Our business model and affiliate links
To keep our comparison service completely free for you to use, we are financed through affiliate marketing.
This means that when you use our service to compare providers and click on a link to an operator’s website (e.g., to sign up for a mobile plan), we may receive a commission.
How this works (Data processing)
For this to work technically, tracking technology (such as cookies or tracking links) is used to identify that the referral came from our website. This process involves the collection and sharing of data, such as a cookie ID or your IP address, with our partners (the operators) and our affiliate networks.
This tracking will only occur if you have given your explicit consent for “Advertisement” cookies via our cookie banner.
You can find a complete list of the specific cookies we use, as well as manage your consent, at any time in our Cookie Policy.
Transfers of data outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
Our policy is to process and store your personal data on servers located within the EU/EEA whenever possible.
However, to provide our services, we use certain third-party suppliers who are based outside the EEA. This means your data may be transferred to, and processed in, a country whose data protection laws may not be considered as strict as those in the EU.
Google Workspace (Email and internal documents)
We use Google Workspace (provided by Google LLC) for our internal operations, including our company email system. When you contact us via email or our contact form, your personal data (such as your name, email address, and the content of your message) is processed by Google and may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States (US).
Legal Safeguard: This transfer is secured under Chapter V of the GDPR. The European Commission has adopted an “adequacy decision” for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which Google LLC is certified under. This certification ensures that your personal data receives a level of protection equivalent to that provided within the EU. We have also entered into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Google that incorporates these safeguards.
Analytics and advertising partners (Based on consent)
Other services we use, such as Google Analytics and various affiliate networks, may also be based in the US or other third countries.
Any transfer of data for these purposes will only occur if you have given your explicit consent for analytics or marketing cookies via our cookie banner. These transfers are also protected by valid legal mechanisms, such as the DPF or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
Your data protection rights
You have several rights under the GDPR designed to give you control over your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, the easiest way to contact us is through our contact form.
Here’s an overview of what these rights mean:
- The right to erasure: You have the right to ask us to delete your personal data, for example, if it is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected or if you withdraw your consent.
- The right to rectification: If the information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to correct it.
- The right of access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to receive information about how we use it.
- The right to information: You have the right to be provided with clear, transparent, and easily understandable information about how we collect and use your personal data. (This privacy policy is one of the ways we do this).
- The right to restriction of processing: You have the right to request that we temporarily “block” or stop using your data in certain circumstances, for example, while we verify its accuracy if you have challenged it.
- The right to object: You have the right to object to us processing your data, particularly for direct marketing purposes. If we are using “legitimate interest” as our legal basis, you can object, and we must stop unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds to continue.
- Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling: You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing (like profiling) that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
- The right to data portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. This also allows you to move, copy, or transfer your data to another service (where technically feasible).
If you believe that we have processed your personal data incorrectly, you can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Comission (DPC) in Ireland.
